The Concept
This is an curated, self-guided journey through the heart of Chicago’s "Mexico of the Midwest." You’ll explore the distinct culinary identities of Mexico’s cuisines—all within one neighborhood.
The Goals
By driving foot traffic to under-represented storefronts, we preserve our cultural footprint, celebrate culinary diversityby spotlighting the mom-and-pop gems while we revitalize the local economy.
How It Works
Your guide to a safe, fun, and unforgettable night out in the Village.
Tour Setup
We identify premier participating business to gather at Mi Tierra Restaurant. Your ticket includes:
- Pick up a printed map or use a QRC Code
- Map your route
- Come prepared: Bring cash preferably
- Look for the "True Taco" Decal
- Confirm your are at a participating restaurant
Tour Flow
The tour is designed as a walkable "tasting menu" along the 26th Street corridor.
- Start at Albany Ave and 26th St. or the opposite end, Kostner Ave and 26th St.
- Each restaurant is within walking distance and never more than 5-10 min away.
- Soak in the neighborhood's vibrant street art between bites.
